Mysuru: Akshay Kumar starrer movie Special 26 had such an impact on a gang of robbers that they decided to replicate the filmy plot in real life. However, the only twist in the climax is that in the film the hero was never caught while here in reality the gang was miserably caught by the cops.

The arrested are Khalim, Ismail Pasha, Sayyed Alim, Tabrez Pasha, Asif, Appar Basha, Zakir R, Sayyed Shabbir from Bengauru.

The robbery took place on June 23 when a group of thieves entered a private steel firm posing as CBI officials. An employee grew suspecious and asked them to show their ID cards. Soon the gang assualted him, disconnected CCTVs and snatched Iphones from two other employees and escaped with Rs 29, 66, 840 cash.

A case was registered at V V Puram station and a special CCB team was formed to nab the culprits.

The team has recovered Rs 8, 69, 950 cash, a mobile and vehicle used by the robbers.

City police commissioner Subramanyeshwara Rao addressing a press meet said that the main accused is facing two murder cases and was out on parole. “Two more accused are said to be involved in the case and will be nabbed soon,” he added.
