Mysuru: City Traffic Police launched a drive against drunken driving, on the night of December 31 and booked as many as 122 cases against those who were found driving after consuming alcohol in 13 check points across the city.
It may be recalled that City Police, who had launched an elaborate drive from December 26 to prevent drunken driving had booked 579 cases between Dec. 26 and Dec. 31.
Vehicles of those caught driving after drinking were seized and licenses sent to the Regional Transport Officer(RTO) with a recommendation for suspension.
Ruling out laxity on the part of Traffic Police, City Police Commissioner Dr. M.A.Saleem said that almost the entire Traffic Police force along with traffic wardens had been deployed to carry out checks and added that the managements of hotels, clubs and resorts had arranged for vehicles to drive their patrons home after the new year bash.
