Mysuru: Natives of Tamil Nadu who are working in various companies including IT firms across the city staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office demanding the Centre to pass an ordinance in favour of Jallikattu.

The protestors, dressed in black, said that Jallikattu was a traditional sport and also an integral part of Tamil Nadu’s culture. They also demanded a ban on People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for hurting the sentiments of people.  The protestors claimed that without  Jallikattu, Pongal festival was incomplete for natives of Tamil Nadu. Hence, Central government should intervene and submit an affidavit to the Supreme Court to allow the sport.

After staging the protest for few hours, they submitted a memorandum to the representative of deputy commissioner.
