Mysuru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar visited the Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hills here on Monday January 3.
Speaking to mediapersons, Shivakumar said, “I always perform and offer special puja to the God before doing any important work. I have come to get Goddess Chamundeshwari’s blessing for the Mekedatu padayatra which is scheduled for Sunday January 9. I believe that Goddess Chamundeshwari will protect us from any kind of danger.” He also added, “Cauvery water is the right of all the people in Mysuru
and Bengaluru. So, for the welfare of the State, people and farmers, we have organised this protest.”
Responding to the question by the media on whether staging the protest during the ongoing pandemic is right, Shivkumar said, “What did you call it when L. K. Advani staged a protest rally during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure as the Prime Minister. Former Prime Minister H. D. Devegowda had also held many of these protests and rallies before. Former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy had also stated about travelling across the State and B. S. Yediyurappa too travelled after the elections. Wasn’t there any pandemic then?”
KPCC Working President R. Dhruvanarayana, Karnataka Congress Women’s Wing President Dr. Pushpa B. Amarnath and others were present.
