Devaraj Urs Multipurpose Wrestling Stadium to be developed at Rs 3.05 Crore

Mysuru: Here is good news for wrestlers! District Minister H C Mahadevappa who visited Devaraj Urs Multipurpose Wrestling Stadium announced Rs 3.05 Crore for its overall development.

Most of the major wrestling events including All India Dasara Wrestling Competition are held at this stadium but it lacks basic facilities and neatness. After coming to know of the prevailing condition, inorder to know the ground reality Mahadevappa along with district officials including Deputy Commissioner D Randeep visited the stadium. After hearing the requirements from N M Shashikumar, KEA CEO, he approved Rs 3.05 Crore for various developmental works for the stadium including shelter for spectators, much needed toilet facilities, renovation of sitting gallery and landscaping at the entrance.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, Shashikumar said, “The developmental works which will start from next week will be stopped a week before Dasara wrestling competition. Well before Dasara, we will try to complete as much as possible.” The stadium comes under KEA.

It may be brought to light here that most of the wrestlers who used to come from various parts of the country complained about lack of facilities and neatness at the stadium.
