Mysuru: Its not uncommon to come across people in the habit of pocketing few of the complimentary stuff available at hotels. But here in Mysuru, a man used to book rooms in posh hotels only to do away with the high-tech television sets from the room.
The man identified as Vinay Prasad(22), a resident of Nelamangala was arrested by the cops while he was trying to sell a stolen TV at an electronics shop.
Reportedly, Vinay had been deserted by his wife few months ago and around the same time he had lost his job. A dejected Vinay was looking for some ways to earn easy and fast money when he read about a TV theft case that had appeared in a newspaper. It was then that the idea of stealing TV from lodges occurred to him.
Vinay would carry the necessary tools needed to steal the TVs as well as a huge bag to make away with the TV without being noticed while checking into the hotels. He was smart enough to give them identity cards that had his previous address. Once in the room he would easily carry out his theft.
The theft would be noticed only when a room attendant would enter the room. He used to sell the stolen TVs for secondhand for Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000.
However most of his activities were recorded in CCTV cameras and the police launched search operations in Chamaraja Nagar and Sriranga Pattana to nab him. On receiving information that a person was trying to sell a TV for secondhand at a shop in Srirangapattana the police acted swiftly and apprehended him.
