Mysuru: Four cops have been suspended for dereliction of duty by the city police commissioner after a spate of chain snatching incidents in the city.

In the recent past, chain snatching incidents are on the rise as many women lost their gold chains. In the first incident on June 29, Lakshmamma, an old lady lost her chain. A police constable by name Lingaraju was deputed to trace the chain snatchers, but was not found in the area when the chain was snatched, which led to his suspension.
Next morning on June 30, a woman by name Kathyayini lost her chain at the same spot and three cops by name Subbanna, Maheshwara and Nanjundaswamy who were assigned the roles to trap the culprits were again missing from the area.
Angered by the irresponsible behavior of the cops, the police commissioner took the decision to suspend them. In fact, all of them were given patrol vehicles and vital inputs to nab the culprits involved in chain snatching.
There was a lot public ire against the police for not taking adequate measures in spite of repeated incidents of chain snatching in the area. Few people have hailed the strong decision taken by the police commissioner to suspend the cops and consider it as first of its kind in the city.
