Mysuru: A jealous woman assaulted her own sister’s school going daughter using a fire wood log on January 23 and the attack turned almost fatal.

Sheela, aged 14, a resident of N R Mohalla and student of Siddarth School took the brunt of blows after she was lured out of her home by her aunt Muniyamma under the pretext of visiting a relative’s house.

Then she took the girl to an isolated place near Sathagalli and assaulted her leaving her bleeding there.
An auto driver, who heard the cries of the girl in agony, rushed her to a nearby hospital. The girl who suffered multiple injuries in the head and upper part of the body is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Police are zeroing in on Muniyamma as she reportedly has a psychological problem. It is gathered that Muniyamma’s daughter had died some time ago and her jealousy might have led to the attack, according to police.

Muniyamma is absconding and police are investigating further into the incident.
