Mysuru: A day after the high court rejected K Marigowda’s bail plea, the former president of Mysuru Zilla Panchayat and close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, surrendered before Nazarbad Police Station on Wednesday, August 3.

Marigowda was absconding since July 3, the day DC Shikha filed a case against him.
Sources said that he had asked permission to participate in the final rites of CM’s son Rakesh, but the court asked him to surrender first. With no other option left, Marigowda surrendered on Wednesday. So far, no information is revealed about where he went absconding for 32 days.
Justice Anand Byrareddy had earlier questioned how bail could be granted to a person who had prevented a women government official from executing her work. The court had dismissed the petition and directed the petitioner to approach the lower court. The judge had also praised DC Shikha for showing courage in filing the complaint. Byrareddy firmly told the advocate appearing for Marigowda that the bail sought cannot be granted.
It may be recalled that, the DC was abused by Marigowda, a former ZP president when the CM was in city to attend an Ifthar party. Soon after the CM left the government guest house, Marigowda and his supporters verbally abused and threatened DC Shikha. She, instead of following CM’s cavalcade, went to Nazarbad police station and lodged a complaint.
