Mysuru: The ten-day Dasara Food Mela (Aahara Mela), a major attraction of Mysuru Dasara will be held at Bharath Scouts and Guides Ground from October 1 to 9. During the 10-day food mela will cater thematic foods to all foodies.
Addressing mediapersons after releasing the posters of Mysuru Dasara Food Mela-2016 at the DC’s office on Monday, CEO of Zilla Panchayat, Shivashankar, who is also the deputy special officer for the Food Mela Sub-committee said, “We are organising theme based Food Mela where special prominence is given to millet and traditional food. Special cuisines including Mysuru Thali, North Karnataka thali, North Indian thali, Kerala special, Coastal Foods, green foods and other unique foods will be available. Steps have also been taken to maintain hygiene and cleanliness”.
Golden Chariot Train
Kumar Pushkar, Managing Director of Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation, Kumar Pushkar said, “The Golden Chariot luxury train will be operating during the Mysuru Dasara-2016 which will woo tourists planning to visit the city. The Golden Chariot train, which has a dedicated coach for restaurant, a lounge bar, a gym and spa, will offer royal treatment to the guests and would travel five times during the Mysuru Dasara every alternative day. The first train will leave Yeshwantpur station on October 1 and before coming to Mysuru they would be taken to Srirangapatna and visit Daria Daulat, Tipu’s Fort and many more places. The tourists will be then welcomed to the city and would be taken to Jaganmohan Palace Art Gallery and later to Lalith Mahal Palace for lunch. Those travelling in golden chariot are entitled to the Gold pass and can witness cultural programmes in front of the illuminated Mysuru Palace. The two nights and one day package in the golden chariot is priced at Rs 30,000 per person”.
