Dasara elephants see ‘vintage escorts’ at rehearsal on Monday

Mysuru: A day after the Bengaluru-Mysuru vintage car rally was kicked-off, around 12 of these vintage beauties that arrived in the city on Sunday, accompanied the Dasara elephants during a rehearsal session for the Jumboo Savaari on Monday, October 1.

During the rehearsal on Monday, these cars accompanied 12 Dasara elephants till the KR Circle. People along the stretches where the unique caravan passed through, were taken aback as they had the opportunity witness the Dasara elephants led by howdah elephant Arjuna, as well as the vintage cars that had come from across the country and the world. Most of these the car owners had even been to the Chamundi Hill temple earlier in the day. As part of the rally, the mechanical oldies also crisscrossed through the major thoroughfares of the city, catching the attention of onlookers.

These vintage cars, manufactured between the 1920’s and 1970’s, were also stationed at the Lalitha Mahal Palace premises for public viewing.

Around 50 vintage car owners from across the globe participated in the rally, organised by the Department of Tourism and Federation of Historic Vehicles of India, which was flagged off by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy in front of the Vidhana Soudha on Sunday.
