Mysuru: Going by the recent Cauvery issues and the prevailing water scarcity condition in the State, there are possibilities that the forthcoming Dasara might be scaled down.
After the incidents of violence in Mysuru, Bengaluru and Mandya, the government is thinking whether to celebrate Dasara in a normal or grand manner. There are rumors that the government may scale down Dasara this season as well. From nearly a week, various organizations in Mysuru, Mandya and Bengaluru are on streets demanding the government not to release water to Tamil Nadu. The issue is yet to be settled and going by all this, it seems the government may scale down the festival.
Speaking to NewsKarnataka D Randeep, Deputy Commissioner said, “The recent Cauvery incidents and water crisis has made us to think on the scale of celebration. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has to take a decision on this. We are awaiting the decision from the government. I will speak to district minister HC Mahadevappa and try to take future course of steps. We will also decide the scale of the Dasara celebrations”. He also mentioned that the district administration is ready for full scale or normal Dasara.
It can be brought to light that on Monday, Co-operative and Chamarajanagar district minister Mahadev Prasad after releasing the Dasara publicity poster stated that last year due to drought and farmers’ suicide across the state, the Dasara celebrations were scaled down, but this year the Dasara high power committee has decided to celebrate Dasara on a medium scale. He had also mentioned that the ongoing Cauvery issues will not affect the celebration.
