Cycling: The Montra Tour of Nilgiris 2014 (TfN) reaches Mysuru

Mysuru: The Montra Tour of Nilgiris 2014 (TfN), the seventh edition of the annual flagship event of RideACycle Foundation (RAC-F), which was flagged off from Bengaluru Dec16 morning reached Mysuru yesterday evening. TfN, a serious circuit for seasoned cyclists & acknowledged as the mother of all cycling tours in the country, has attracted the best of the cycling talent globally and witnesses 81 riders covering a distance of 900 + kms across Karnataka, Tamilnadu & Kerala.   

Starting from Bengaluru, cyclists on this multi-day Cycling tour,  pedal through Mysuru, Ooty, Palakkad, Valparai and finish the tour at Munnar. On day one riders pedaled from Bengaluru to Mysuru – nicknamed Speedway – covering a total distance of 185 kms, of which 15 kms was the competitive segment (between Halgur and Malavalli).  

Commenting on Montra TfN 2014, Badrinath Sastry, Tour Director, Montra Tour of Nilgiris 2014, said, “This is the seventh year we are coming to Mysore. The Bengaluru – Mysore ride is the longest ride on this tour for any single day as the cyclists had to pedal via T Narasipura as the Bannur – Malavalli stretch is under repair.  

According to Deepak Malipatil, Trustee, Ride A Cycle Foundation, “Tour of Nilgiris is now considered the original Indian bicycle tour – pushing barriers, testing endurance and creating opportunities for talent along the most scenic of routes.” Cyclists from across the globe have shown great interest in TfN and it is no surprise the event is getting bigger with every passing year, he added
