Mysuru: A tourist on visit to Talakadu, a holy site for Hindus has uploaded photographs of burning the dead on the banks of Southern Ganges River Cauvery on social media. Through the media posts, the tourist raised his concern on river water pollution, disturbed by the number of cremations taking place on its bank.
The belief that if the dead are cremated on the river banks, the remains along with the accumulated earthly wealth, flow directly to heaven has ignited the greed among several people to cremate their near and dear ones here.
The holy pilgrimage site for Hindus, Talakadu in T Narasipur Taluk is located on the banks of Cauvery River. Millions of devotees and tourists visit this sacred pilgrimage site throughout the year.
