Mysuru: MCC council meeting which was held on January 23rd finally extended the contract period to JUSCO for completing 24×7 water supply projects by May 2015. The meeting headed by Mayor R Lingappa, MCC Commissioner C G Betsurmat and Deputy Mayor Mahadevamma held at Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar Auditorium in MCC, was a continuation of the council meet which adjourned on January 23, due to disruption caused by the controversial project.

Mayor R Lingappa announced that as per the discussion conducted with members, the MCC council decided to extend the contract period upto May 2015. The extension will not be at the cost of the govt exchequer, and the work process will continue as per the tripartite agreement norms agreed in 2008.
The total maintenance cost (Rs 200 lakhs) is including billing and collection cost Rs 25 lakhs, Bore-well and pump-set repair cost Rs 20 lakhs, Pump-set and Pipeline handling cost Rs 95 lakhs, Additional manpower cost Rs 60 lakhs respectively.
Whereas the same maintenances costs will be remain only at Rs 58 lakhs per month for the extended period in accordance with the initial agreement with JUSCO. The same agreement will be remain unchanged to the extended period.
Even though there are many members raised question, the meeting could not come to a conclusion on the 24×7 water transportation systems to the entire city under Vanivilas Water Works. This was due to a lack of resources including manpower and technical machineries to handle it. Council members expressed the opinion that it would be difficult to complete the work within the extended period.
