Contractor assures to pay protesting Cheluvamba Hospital civic workers their dues before Thursday

Mysuru: Following a flash strike by the contract pourakarmikas, working in Cheluvamba Hospital demanding payment of their salaries, Dr Krishnamurthy, Director and Dean of Mysuru Medical College Research and Institute has warned the contractor and even threatened to file a criminal case against him if he fails to clear their dues.

Cheluvamba Hospital civic workers begin flash strike for wages-1On Friday, nearly 80 pourakarmiaks working at Cheluvamba Hospital staged a protest demanding payment of their salary due since nearly five-six months. When the pourakarmikas came to street and things went out of control, Dr Krishnamurthy summoned the contractor and warned him that his contract will be blacklisted and even criminal case will be filed if there was a delay in paying salary to the pourakarmikas.

Speaking to Newskarnataka Dr Krishnamurthy said “The contractor Ramachandra agreed to pay the five-month salary to all the pourakarmiaks. If he fails to pay the salary based on minimum wages act, we are going to take stringent action against him. Apart from paying salary, he should also provide ESI and PF facilities to all the employees, failing which he will be black listed”.
