Mysuru: In a bizarre incident, a Congress leader has become Lashkar police’s guest, after he attempted to kill his friend from whom he had borrowed loan.

The Congress leader in question is Ashok alias Kulla Ashok, who is also the Director Mysuru city Co-operative Bank.

It is said that businessman named Sandeep Shetty had given Rs 6.5 lac to Ashok on trust. Though Ashok had promised to return the money in three months, all of Shetty’s requests to return the money fell on deaf ears.

After harassing Shetty for long time, on Tuesday evening Ashok asked Shetty to meet him near City Co-operative Bank. But, to Shetty’s dismay, instead handing over the money, Ashok tried to run the car over him.

In the murder pact, Shetty was dragged by the car for about 200 mts. Shetty saved himself by clinging on to the car bonnet.

The Lashkar police have taken Ashok into custody. They are also in possession of CCTV camera footage, which is major evidence to the case.
