Mysuru: Election is fast approaching and political slugfest has started over various issues. It was not too long ago that raged farmers staged a stir outside BJP state President BS Yeddyurappa’s residence demanding implementation of Kalasa-Bhanduri project. However, using it to his advantage, BSY has now called it a Congress sponsored protest.
Speaking to media at a private hotel in the city, BSY said, “The Congress is accountable for the present mess related to Kalasa-Bhanduri project. When the UPA was in power, Sonia Gandhi refused to release a drop of water. When I placed state’s plea over Mahadayi on centre’s table as the then chief minister, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh handed over the same to the tribunal.”
“I have been requesting chief minister Siddaramaiah to convince his party men in Goa, who are opposing the project, but the CM is not inclined to resolve the row,” said BS Yeddyurppa.
BSY assured of setting aside Rs 20,000 crores in every budget for irrigation to mitigate the woes of state farmers. The chief minister is busy announcing projects in the range of Rs 100 crores to 200 crores ahead of budget but in reality, he will not be able to present this year’s budget as the code of conduct will be in place by then, said BSY.
Terming the present Congress regime as most corrupt, he said that charge sheet listing 67 charges, including illegal mining and Arkavathi denotification cases will be distributed to households through a door-to-door campaign.
Protests against union minister Ananth Kumar Hegde are unwarranted as the union minister has already apologised over his remarks on Constitution, said BSY.
