Mysuru: “It is false claim of Bharatiya Janata Party that the detailed project report of Mekedatu was completed during their tenure”, said, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Speaking to Media persons here on Monday, he said, “It is false that BJP had done a DPR of Mekedatu dam during their tenure. It would save nearly Rs 25 crore for the government if they had done it in the past. Since the start they have given false information about the project.”
Speaking about dividing Bengaluru Brahut Mahanagara Palike into three parts CM Siddaramaiah said, “BJP had mentioned about it in its manifesto and I don’t know why they are opposing it now. Due to time limitation on Monday, the proposal was not amended. However, on 23 April we will be proposing it again.”

Responding to a query on the governor’s absence during the amendment, CM said that they will contact and reach out the proposal to him.”
Explaining the reasons for dividing BBMP he said, “In a report submitted by Rajendra Kumar Khataria, it is evident that there was lot of corruption and vested interests intensively working in BBMP administration. In an attempt to make ‘Brand Bengaluru’, basic infrastructure has to be improved. As of now, the ward division is also uneven which is harming development works.”

CM: “Only Co-operative societies can empower the backward classes”
After laying the foundation stone for the construction of a Co-operative Academy and Administrative Office Building for Co-operative society in Gukulam, here on Tuesday, the CM, expressing concern about the economical empowerment of the poor and backward class people, assured that the state government is keen to include all the BPL card holders in at least one of the Co-operative Societies that come under the Department of Co-operatives, so that the government schemes reach the needy through these societies, just like one of the popular health schemes
Addressing the gathering where members from all the co-operative society from across the state have joined, The CM pointed out that co-operative sector is one of the significant fields that makes key role in the development of the society. Being supportive of social development, every member of the co-operative society has to adopt helping nature and cooperativeness, the CM suggested.
Urging people to utilize various schemes provided by the government, he said that the government is providing upto Rs 3 lakhs loan with zero percent interest for the members in the Co-operative society. Besides, the government provided free membership of Co-operative society to several scheduled cast and tribal people with the cost of Rs 2 crores.
“Though every member may not be able to get a loan in same period, there are good opportunities for members of Co-operative societies who can enjoy free treatment not only in government hospital, but also in private hospital for few diseases. “Implementing government schemes through co-operative societies is more effective” the Chief Minister underlined.
Expressing concern towards the discriminated Dalit farmers, the CM underlined that there are many Dalits who were dependent on animal husbandry, but are not allowed to get membership in Milk Co-operative Societies, but the government has successfully provided membership and helped them get the benefit of Rs 4 subsidy for every Liter which is provided by the government.
Co-operative Academy
The proposed Academy and Administrative Office Building for Co-operative society buildings are estimated to cost Rs 5 crores. The Academy complex will be used for giving training for Co-operative society representatives and leaders. The proposed building will be constructed on 2 acres of the total 8 acres of land that belongs to the Department of Co-operatives.
Minister for Co-operatives H S Mahadevaprasad, spoke on the achievement of the co-operative societies in providing employment and pointed out that the government has provided Rs 9300 crores for total 21,70,000 farmers in last two years. As a result of support of the government, milk production increased to about 20 lakh ltr which encouraged them to implement the “Ksheera Bhagha” scheme.
