CM: Malnutrition among children in State has been eradicated

Mysuru: “The malnutrition in school going children have been reduced after Ksheera Bhagya and Anna Bhagya schemes have been implemented in government schools”, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

He was speaking after the inaugurating the development works organized by Mysuru district administration, Zilla Panchayat, rural drinking water and sanitation department here at Biligere village in Nanjangud taluk here on Thursday.

He said that the Government which has invested Rs 1000 crore to counter malnutrition in school going children, which has been successful, the milk generation has also been increased from Rs 35 lakhs to 60 lakh liters every day.

“For the development of irrigation, channels and other water resources, state government has allotted Rs 13 thousand crore for the year 2015-16,” said Chief Minister Siddarmaiah.

Speaking about the benefits provided to farmers he said, “The farmers in the state are more dependent on crops. In support to it, state government has already allocated a huge amount for the development, in the year 2013-14 Rs 10,000 crore was sanctioned, while in 2014-15 Rs 11,300 crore was allocated for the development of the lives of farmers.”

Around 24 lakh farmers were benefitted by getting Rs 3 lakh loans for agriculture. Next year, the beneficiaries will be enhanced upto 30 lakh. The State government has also constructed 6 lakh Ashraya houses for the poor people and also has released Rs 2448 crore loan for the construction of houses through various schemes. Rs 1350 crore loan have been waived off.”

“Earlier, the water problems were dealt with the lakes, wells and channels. But due to deterioration in rainfall, the underground water level has reduced. The wells are going dry in the summer season. In order to find a permanent solution, the drinking water scheme has been implemented.

In Mysuru district Rs 518 crore has been invested in 881 villages where they can get permanent water facility through rivers sources. In 168 villages in Varuna constituency have been chosen for the project,” he said.

“For the BPL card holders’ government will be paying half of the amount to a person from each home for the registration of their names in co-operative banks. Over 1.8 crore families will get the benefits,” he added.

Revenue and district in-charge Minister V Srinivas Pradad, Public Works Department (PWD)  Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, Zilla Panchayat  President Dr B Pushpa Amarnath, MP Dhruva Narayan, MLC R Dharmasena, Valmiki development corporation president S C Basavaraju, Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) chairman K R Mohan Kumar, ZP vice president L Madappa and many others were present.
