City police dept. conduct public grievances meet

Mysore: As a part of its drive to become people friendly, the department organized a public grievances meeting in all the prominent police stations, to discuss and highlight  various issues on Monday August 18.

A large numbers of residents took part in the meeting from their respective localities and brought forth the problems and issues. They also stated how the police could behave and  that they could be more accessible.

Lashkar Police Station

In a meeting held at Lashkar Police Station, Devaraja Sub-Division ACP Jaimaruthi participated and heard the problems faced by the residents.

People stated that there are several miscreants misbehaving with the public near the Rural Bus Stand and in Parks. They urged the Police to take appropriate steps and also intensify the rounds of the Chamundi Helpline vehicle.

Problems of traffic were also aired by the public. They complained that the Rural Bus Stand road was very narrow which was causing inconvenience in the traffic flow. They added that the autorickshaws are parked haphazardly in front of St Bartholomew’s Church which was causing inconvenience to the pedestrians and also to Christian brethren who go to the church.

 

Nazarbad Police Station

At the meeting held at Nazarbad Police Station, residents of Siddarthanagar complained that the youths from the city, drive their two or four wheelers at breakneck speed making it difficult for them to move about safely on the roads in the area.

The Nazarbad Inspector K.C. Poovaiah heard their grievances and reassured them. He then wrote down the problems and told them he would find solutions to their problems. He gave them his mobile phone number and asked the people to call him in case they faced any problems.

Residents under the Nazarbad Police limits also participated in the meeting.

Vijayanagar Police Station

The participants in the meeting at Vijayanagar Police Station complained that frequent accidents were taking place on the roads near Hootagalli and Koorgalli as vehicles are being parked on either sides of the road making it narrow leading to frequent accidents.

The Public also demanded the Police to put an end to the menace of drunkards which was increasing day by day near Surya Bakery in Hebbal in the evenings.

Meetings were also held at Devaraja, NR, Ashokapuram, Lakshmipuram, Vidyaranyapuram, Kuvempunagar, VV Puram, Saraswathipuram, Udayagiri and other Police Stations in city, respectively.
