Chamarajanagar: The Chamarajanagar district, which falls along Karnataka’s border with Kerala and Tamil Nadu, has so far managed to remain a green zone amidst the explosion of COVID-19 cases in the state. However, it has lost its tag as a green zone after a migrant youth who arrived from Mumbai tested positive for the disease that has killed 64 people in the state so far.

According to the authorities, the patient is being treated at a dedicated Covid-19 hospital in the Chamarajanagar district

“He is a medical student. He arrived at the Martalli village of the Kollegal taluk on Saturday with his mother and brother. He complained of a fever the very next day and visited the Kollegal fever clinic and now, he has tested positive for COVID-19,” said MR Ravi, Chamarajanagar DC.

“His mother and brother tested negative,” he added.

The DC also clarified that the patient is not from Karnataka, but another state and that Chamarajanagar will remain as a green district.
