Man held for alleged attempt to rape in C’nagara

Chamarajanagara: An accused alleged of an attempt to rape was arrested by police on Wednesday June 15.

The accused, identified as Praveen (32) a native of Chatipura Village in Yelanduru Taluk. It is said that accused Praveen made an abortive bid to rape a 21-year-girl who was grazing cattle when the accused went on a bike at Irasavadi. The accused offered her Rs. 500 for sex. When she was rejected and he abused and dragged her to a nearby forest.

When the victim raised alarm, passers-by rescued her. The accused fled from the scene by leaving the bike.

After filing a complaint, Yelandur police arrested the accused and produced him before JMFC court which remanded him in judicial custody for 15 days.
