Gamblers assault police officials during raid

Chamarajanagar: Police who went to raid a gambling den in Goolipura village were assaulted by gamblers here on April 13.
Few locals who were fed up with immoral activities and gambling had complained to police. Children and women were affected due to unabated gambling that was taking place in the village.

Following the complaint, Chamarajanagar police station Inspector Shivaswamy and staff went to raid the gambling den. The gamblers learnt about police raid, assaulted the officials and fled.

In the incident, Inspector Shivaswamy, Sub-inspector Nayak, Head constable Naga Nayaka, Lokesh, Gopal and Rafi suffered injuries and have been shifted to district hospital.

The police have registered complaint against several people from Goolipura village and have launched a manhunt for the accused.
