Chamarajanagara: All India Congress Committee (AICC) Former President Rahul Gandhi gave a call to the people of State to join him in the 22-day padayatra as part of Bharat Jodo Yatra in the State on Friday September 30.

Rahul Gandhi who entered State through Kerala border at Gundlupete Town in Chamarajanagara District, addressed a huge gathering of party workers.

In his address, Rahul appealed to the people of State to raise their voice against ‘corruption, inflation and unemployment’.

Rahul who explained the intention behind organising the Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, alleged that “BJP led Central Government has a suzheraine control on Parliament, media and other institutions of Democracy, denying the rightful space for opposition parties. The mikes are turned off in the Parliament and Legislative Assemblies in several States. Hence, the Padayatra is taken out to lend ears to their woes. This is the voice of Hindustan.”

He added, “There is no room for long speech but only padayatra with 15 minutes interaction. It is to hear your woes, not to address.”

Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar, KPCC Campaign Committee Chairman and Former Minister M. B. Patil, AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, Senior Congress Leaders Jairam Ramesh, M. Veerappa Moily, Member of Parliament D. K. Suresh, B. K. Hariprasad, K. H. Muniyappa, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Dr. H. C. Mahadevappa and other prominent leaders were present.

Rahul Gandhi will visit Badanavalu, a Khadi Village in Nanjangudu on Sunday October 2 to mark Gandhi Jayanti. Mahatma Gandhi had visited Badanavalu in 1932. He will tour Karnataka for 22 days.
