Chamarajanagara: Police booked a case against a conman who attempted to dupe the Deputy Commissioner in name of a senior officer at the Prime Minister’s office (PMO).

According to a complaint filed by Revenue officials, a caller dialled Deputy Commissioner (DC) Charulatha Somal’s mobile number and introduced himself as a senior official at PMO and retired Chief Secretary of Gujarat. When asked for more details he said he was from PMO and could not reveal more details.

He instructed DC to arrange his stay in Jungle lodges and resorts on July 2 and he would be coming with his family to visit Biligiriranganatha Swamy Temple and wildlife sanctuary.

The DC grew suspicious about his style of speaking and upon checking the mobile number, it found the caller is a conman.

Chamarajanagara Superintendent of Police T. P. Shivakumar said that it is confirmed that the caller is a conman and a native of Mysuru. The caller did not visit temple on July 2. Police registered an FIR and laid a trap to arrest the caller.
