Mysuru: Chain-snatching has been on the rise in the recent times in the City. Two incidents of chain snatching targeting elderly women within 15 minutes of each other were reported in Chamaraja Mohalla and VV Puram on Thursday December 16.

The first incident occurred around 7.15 pm on Dewan’s Road in Chamaraja Mohalla when a 70-year-old woman Uma Devi lost her 70-gram-gold chain and suffered minor scratches on her neck. In the second incident, Meenakshamma, also aged 70, who was walking on the Highway Restaurant Cross road in VV Puram along with her daughter-in-law and grandchildren, lost her 60-gram-gold chain to the
chain-snatchers.

Separate cases have been registered at Chamaraja Mohalla and VV Puram Police Stations and it is suspected that the same chain snatchers are involved in both the cases. Police have laid a trap to nab the culprits.
