Caste based census to take wings today

Mysuru: The twenty day caste based census is scheduled to start tomorrow, April 11th all over Karnataka.

“We have had lots of demand to conduct the census,” said Revenue and District In Charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad at the District Commissioners office on Friday where a workshop on the Social and Academic Survey was organised by the District Administration, Backward class welfare department and Department of Information and public communication.

The minister went on to say that, “There is inequality in society, and people still struggle to get employment in our democracy. Each family has their own problem and the government is providing numerous benefits. Yet there are many who know about the benefits, and the survey will help us get all these important statistics and help the poor people.”

He further suggested that member’s conducting the survey can take the help for the local bodies of the village so they can get more information.  The aim of the survey is to identify the economical statues of all communities since the last census was conducted 80 years ago.

5998 enumerators will conduct the survey; each enumerator will go to 155 houses in the span of 20 days. During the first four days the enumerator will look in to the national census which was conducted in 2011 and make a note of the changes since then.

Mayor Lingappa, H D Kote MLA Chikkamadu, former Mayor Pushpalata Chikkanna and others were present.
