Mysuru: Large number of protesters gathered at the foot of Chamundi Hills on Tuesday May 24 and requested general public to join hands in the campaign to protect the hills and its surroundings, which is now being targeted by the government with a string of developmental projects.

Leaders of various organizations joined the protest and sent mobile and Whatsapp messages to the Chief Minister Siddaramiah, Forest Minister Ramanath Rai and District in-charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad to highlight their concern regarding the issue.
The Government is planning to construct a four lane highway along with large parking zone accompanied by shopping malls along the stretch from city to the hill top. The protesters felt the mega projects will not only damage the environment around the hills but will also rob the hills of its beauty and panoramic view.
