Mysuru: In the modern technology-driven world, it’s possible to do most things at the press of a button sitting at home. On the positive side, technology helps in various fields, but on the other side it can extinguish one’s precious life as well as push ‘one to the corner’ where one would need time to recover! Begging and cheating are also a part of online business today, in addition to the number of ‘carts’ and ‘trolleys’ on offer!

In one such deal, Satish a resident of Vidyaranyapuram in Mysuru lost Rs 2.23 lakh while striking an online deal on quikr website which trades in used cars and other goods.

Satish requested his friend Mahesh to look out for a suitable vehicle on internet. Accordingly, Mahesh spotted one car on quikr and informed Satish to verify the details.

Satish sent an email to the seller by name Selvi whose car Hyundai Verna bearing registration number KA 35 N 5500 was on sale on Quikr. Selvi in return said,” The car was purchased by her when she was in India but now she is residing in US. The car has been on given on lease to a company and In case you are interested you can deposit 50% of the amount in the account of Vakamulla Ramakrishna”.

After several rounds of communication with the seller, Satish agreed to deposit an amount of Rs 2.23 lakh at VV Puram branch of Axis bank. Then he waited for few days thinking that the seller would revert back so that he can pick the vehicle. When he did not get any information he tried to contact Selvi but at that time her cell phone was switched off.

Finally, Satish lodged a complaint with VV Puram police. The police are investigating the case.
