Burglary in Mysore; cash and silver worth Rs.60,000 stolen

Mysore: Two separate incidents of burglary have been reported in city here on September 28. A house in an apartment block in Yadavagiri has been reportedly burgled last night.

The house belongs to A. Ramanathan, Finance Manager, Hotel Dasaprakash Paradise, housed in 1st floor of Saowan Apartments, in Yadavagiri here.

Ramanthan and his wife are said to have gone to USA in February leaving the apartment locked. At about 3 am today, the Security Officer of the Apartment Block Kaveriamma staying in the block reportedly heard some noise coming from the first floor and alerted the duty guards. When they reached the floor they noticed the front door of the apartment of Ramanathan broken open and three almirahs were found ransacked, possibly in search of valuables and cash which the miscreants could not lay their hands on.

The guards reportedly observed two men running away from the floor. Ramanathan was informed about the burglary. V.V. Puram Police Inspector Suryanarayana Rao, SI Devamma and staff inspected the house and a case has been registered. Fingerprint experts and sniffer dog squad were summoned. ACP A.K. Suresh too visited the house.

JP Nagar: In another incident a house belonging to Shivakumar, a railway workshop employee in Ramabainagar Railway Layout near JP Nagar was found burgled.

Shivakumar is said to had gone to Mandya yesterday to bring back his wife from her mother’s house. Shivakumar, arriving immediately along with Police personnel, found the house ransacked and Rs.40,000 in cash and silver items worth Rs.20,000 reportedly stolen from the almirah.

Vidyaranyapuram Police have registered a case in this regard. ACP B.T. Kavita too inspected the house.
