Somavarpete:
The city cops arrested a few boys who were accused of illegally collecting donations in the guise of different social welfare organizations.

The office bearers of Jayakarnataka, nabbed these boys who were collecting money on door-to-door visits by handing over handbills of Adivasi Foundation Trust ® Hunsoor and Belaku Seva Trust Tribal Ashram ® and showing pictures of physically handicapped and handed over them to the custody of police.

The arrested has been identified as ten-year-old Vijay, fourteen-year-old Manikanta, eleven-year-old Vinod and twelve-year-old B K Vinod, all residents of Bijapur colony in Hunsoor taluk.  The boys have collected money in several places including Yadavanadu, Karekoppa, Hanagal and Somavarapete since a few days.

The boys have confessed to police that a certain Shambu Rao, a resident of Hanagod in Hunsoor taluk has given them handbills and asked them to collect donations.  They will be given Rs 150 commission upon collecting Rs 1,000.  Meanwhile, it’s not known, to whom they give their collection.  Nearly 100 boys are working on this shoddy business.

The police contacted the person whose mobile number was given to the police by the boys and asked him to come to the police station.  He would be interrogated upon his arrival, informed circle inspector H N Siddayya.

Jayakarnataka urged the police to investigate the case, as its unjust to raise funds using illiterate boys in the guise of elderly and physically handicapped.
