Mandya: In a powerful demonstration of protest, workers from the BJP, JDS, and Sangh Parivar rallied against the removal of a Hanuman flag in Keragodu village. Responding to this incident, they launched a movement to hoist Hanuman flags on houses across the village on Saturday.

The movement kicked off with a flag worship ceremony at the Anjaneya Swamy Temple near the 108-foot flagpole. Enthusiastic youths, women, and children joined in, hoisting Hanuman flags on more than 300 houses while chanting Jaishreeram slogans. The fervor spread to neighboring villages, where residents also raised flags in solidarity.

Bhanuprakash Sharma, the president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad district unit, led the movement and announced its continuation in the district until February 9, after which it would be extended statewide. Dr. Indresh Kumar, the BJP district unit president, challenged the Congress government’s decision to remove the flag, asserting that if they had the strength, they should clear the flags displayed on houses.

Despite a peace meeting convened by DC Kumar at the police station on Friday, no resolution was reached. DC Kumar stated that another meeting would be scheduled after February 9 to attempt to resolve the confusion. However, villagers insisted that peace talks should only happen after the Hanuman flag is hoisted on the village flagpole.

In a parallel development, BJP workers filed a complaint at the West Police station in the city on Saturday, demanding the registration of a sedition case against MP DK Suresh. The complaint alleges that MP DK Suresh, by advocating for a separate nation among the states of South India, has violated his oath to uphold the integrity and sovereignty of the country. The workers called for the filing of a sedition case and appropriate legal action. This move is in response to statements perceived as encouraging separatism, causing distress among patriots. The complaint was filed by leader C T Manjunath and others.
