Mysuru: A woman BJP worker, Vanaja Bheemaiah, alleged in a complaint filed with the police, that corporator Jagadish of her own party, manhandled her afte he accused her of indulging in anti-party activities when when she was caompaigning for BJP candidtate Seema Prasad contesting the by poll to ward No. 5.
Corporator Jagadish has been booked under IPC sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provide breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
“After canvassing for Seema, about five of us were chatting near a government college in Kuvempunagara when Jagadish came to us and started abusing me. I don’t know why he accused me of indulging in anti-party activities. The corporator even threatened to teach me a lesson if Seema, the candidate proposed by him, loses election. He also roughed me up by pulling my hand before leaving the spot around 10.50am,” Vanajat said.
ACP B T Kavitha confirmed a case has been taken up against the Corporator and investigation is underway.
A source claimed Vanaja, a former Congress worker, joined BJP only two years ago, and Jagadish suspected that she was working against the BJP candidate in the bypoll scheduled for December 5. Vanaja has been in politics for over 15 years. After joining BJP she contested an election from ward 15 but lost.
