Mysore: “Discussion, awareness and seminars should be conducted to create awareness among farmers”,  said S L Byrappa.
Eminent writers ,celebrities, politicians and religious leaders took part in a rally, organised by the BJP to express  support for farmers. The rally “Negilayogi Nenige Sharanagadiru” started from Basaveshwara circle and culminated in freedom park.

The rally was organised to console and motivate the farmers who are committing suicide due to their financial problems. “More the an 150 farmers have already committed suicide in Mysuru, Chamarajanagara and Mandya region. but the farmers are contributing nearly 15% to the GDP  of our nation every year. A special package is expected for the betterment of farmers from the central government”, said the BJP leaders addressing the gathering.

Writer CPK opined  that bad financial condition and failure in agriculture is not the only a reason for suicide of farmers. Farmers are addicted to alcohol and bad habits. In order to educate the farmers, the  Government should conduct a proper survey and understand the reasons to avoid these suicide cases.
