Battered minor house maid rescued in Mysuru

Mysuru: A minor girl from Hyderabad, who was forced to work as housemaid in Mysuru, was rescued here on Friday, April 22.
The information regarding a 16-year-old girl being forced to work as housemaid was given by a foreigner to Odanadi, one of the NGO’s in the city.

Reportedly, the girl was subjected to mental and physical torture while she was working as a maid in the house of a person, who was running a paying guest accommodation in Gokulam for foreign students visiting Mysuru to learn yoga.

In a joint operation by Odanadi and the city police, the girl was rescued and the police have recorded the victim’s statement.

According to sources, the girl was apparently working as a maid in Hyderabad since she was just six-years-old.

The girl was brought to Mysuru about five months ago. She is presently sheltered at Odanadi.
