Madikeri: Disappointed over not getting ticket from Congress for the forthcoming Assembly election, former MLC and Congress leader C S Arun Machaiah resigned from the Congress membership.

Many senior Congress leaders are not happy over the action of High Command of nominating new faces to the two constituencies in Kodagu. Some have openly expressed their ire. B T Pradeep, Kodagu District Congress president and K M Lokesh, former president of Taluk Panchayat were given tickets for Virajpet and Madikeri constituencies respectively.
The other ticket aspirants were Veena Achchaiah, Suma Vasant, K P Chandrakala, M M Nanaiah, Chandramauli and C S Arun Machaiah.

In 2008 too, Arun Machaiah failed to get the ticket from the Congress, but he succeeded in fracturing the Congress vote bank by contesting from the JDS. Hence K G Bopaiah of BJP could win against Congress candidate Veena Achchaiah. Now he has come out of the Congress and naturally everyone is curious about his next move.
