Mysuru: In a suspected honour killing, a 21-year-old girl was killed by her parents here at Chandaravadi village in Nanjangud taluk, which is Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s constituency.
The incident came to light after police received a call from an unidentified youth.

The District police commissioner has taken the parents into custody for interrogation.

Background

Madhu, a degree student, who belonged to an upper caste, was in love with a boy from lower caste. They both had decided to elope and marry due to opposition from her parents. The girl did not listen to her parents’ repeated requests.

Enraged, the parents then murdered her and burnt the body on Tuesday night. A youth who grew suspicious about the incident called Police commissioner Abhinav Khare through a coinbox phone and informed him about the suspected honour killing.

Immediately the police commissioner visited the spot and asked the police to collect the ashes and the skeleton for further investigation.
