Mysuru: The seventh graduation day ceremony of Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) will be held at its premise on November 5. Padmabhushan Babasaheb Neelkanth Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharath Forge will deliver the graduation day address.
G M Shashidhara, Principal (In-Charge), SJCE said, “During the seventh graduation day, a total of 922 BE, 231 MTech, 58 MCA and 108 MBA candidates are now eligible for recommendation for the award of degree, having duly completed all the requirements for the award of the said degrees as per regulations, for the year 2016-17. 42 Medals will be awarded to the students, out of which 28 Medals are for the students who have scored highest marks in respective branches of both Undergraduate and Postgraduate and 14 Endowment Medals will also be awarded. In the last four months, 741 students have received offer letters from nearly 55 companies. It was marginally less when compared to last year. Among those recruited, the highest package is Rs 14.5 Lakh per annum. The average package is Rs 7 Lakh per annum. Among the companies who come for recruitment, more than 50 percent of them are American based”.
Medals for the achievers of all the branches will be awarded by Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, President, JSS Mahavidyapeetha. Till they get degree certificate from VTU, the students will be provided a provisional degree certificate which is enough for them to apply for higher studies”.
B G Sangameshwara, Vice Chancellor, JSS Science and Technology University who also spoke on the occasion said that the university would be giving more emphasis on research and innovation. “There will be a change in curriculum for engineering students from the next academic year. This is being done after involvement of lot of experts including those working in various firms. Apart from this we are mulling out to set up lifelong learning centre”.
