Mysuru: JD(S) Leader and former CM HD Kumaraswamy has said that if he is voted to power, then 6.5 crore Kannadigas will call shots in his government.

‘The government not run as per the IAS officers or at the behest of political bigwigs, ” he said adding that advice will be sought from related field experts, who will be called to Vidhana Soudha once in a month.

He was speaking during an intellectual interaction program organised by JD(S) party at Kalamandir here on Monday, which saw a participation of more than 13 former vice-chancellors from across the state, students, teaching faculties including those doing research .

Former Vice-Chancellor Dr Yoganand pointed at the lack of updated equipment and various other facilities at government hospital and called upon Kumarswamy to provide subsidy and also have PPP model with private hospitals to ensure people get better treatment at government hospital. “Corruption exists in the system even while applying for Vice-Chancellor posts. When such are the conditions, development will not occur even if we spend Rs 100 crores instead it will go waste,” said Yoganand.

JAK Tareen, former Vice-Chancellor called upon Kumarswamy to give more importance to pre-primary education which is very important in eliminating school drop outs. He also mentioned that diversity is absent in Indian university and hence even after 100 years it is difficult for our university to progress on the lines of top world university. Mahadevaiah, senior retired scientist from CFTRI called upon Kumarswamy to set up Food Park and Incubation centres in all the districts and taluks. Ravi Kumar, research scholar from UoM complained that UoM research scholar dalits students are yet to receive lap tops.

Kumarswamy, after patiently listening to the advice from the experts and students, assured them that once in power, he would hold such meetings, wherein four to five experts from related fileds, including agriculture would be called and decisions based on their inputs.

“Due to drought conditions across the state since three years, farmers state-wide are facing losses to the tune of nearly Rs 56,000 crores. If government decides, it’s not impossible to waive off Rs 51,000 crore farmers loan. If our party comes to power we will assure people of this state that the entire farmer’s loan will be waived off. Apart from this, within a month of assuming power we will also implement the much-delayed Swaminathan committee report which is in cold storage since April 2006. Internet facility too will be provided in all villages across the state. Keeping farmers welfare in mind, we will also plan what each district should grow after studying the rainfall for last 20 years and proper price for each product will be fixed. During Israel visit I noticed that they have made outstanding achievements in agriculture despite facing scarcity of water. They follow good agricultural practice which is resulting in good yields and attractive innovations, without much support from government. Hence if I come to power I will call nearly 200 experts to Karnataka to train our farmers,” said Kumarswamy.

He also assured the experts that if JD (S) comes to power in state, Government schools will be transformed on the lines of private schools. “Instead of fighting for IIT with central government, I will try to transform few universities including UoM and Bengaluru University into international standard universities. Further I assure people that there will be no political interference whatsoever including that of the Chief Minister in regards to appointment of Vice Chancellors for Universities. Only those talented and having a good track record will be selected for coveted post”.

When candidates are not confirmed for the election there is no sense in exit poll result

“I don’t believe in exit poll. In past also they predicted that JD (S) will not get much seats but we proved them wrong. In Congress party, the existing 65 MLA names have been sent to Delhi to drop them from contesting. When such developments are going on, how can they predict results”.

Governor office losing its decorum:

“Politics is existent in Governor office too nowadays. Earlier they were called as “Excellency’ but today there is no such respect for Governor. Chief Ministers used to get scared if Governor wouls say that he will write a letter but not anymore because of the politics” added Kumarswamy who called upon people to give 113 seats to make his various dream projects come true.
