Mysuru: Family members of a 11-year-old boy who died after the doctors amputated both his legs, alleged medical negligence and protested in front of a private hospital on July 6.
Shivakumar (11) was admitted to Apollo hospital in the city after he sustained injuries in a road accident at Siddaramanahundi. Initially, doctors suggested amputating one leg to save the injured boy’s life and later advised amputation of both legs. The reluctant parents who agreed for the amputations to save the boy’s life, were distraught when the boy was declared dead after the surgery.
Alleging medical negligence, family members were seen protesting at the hospital when the administration refused to release deceased’s body without clearing dues amounting to Rs 5 Lakh. Finally the police arrived at the spot and managed to persuade the protesters.
