‘Land revenue to be waived off in drought-hit taluks’

Mysuru: The government has decided not to collect land revenues in drought hit taluks across the state, said Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa.

During a meeting with the revenue officials of Mysuru district at the Regional Commissioner’s Office on Tuesday, the minister said that the State Government had decided to waive off land revenue in drought-hit taluks across the state.

“File clearance should be given utmost importance. People should not be made to run from pillar to post to get their work done at government offices. Petitions pending for more than two years should be cleared immediately,” added Thimmappa. He also mentioned that 30,000 applications submitted by Mysureans under Sakala were pending and called upon the officials to clear them at the earliest.

When matter regarding the vacant posts of Village Accountant, Revenue Inspector, Shirastedar and Group-D workers were brought to his notice, the Minister instructed the concerned officials to take steps to fill the vacancies. He also mentioned that the State Government has issued notification for the appointment of surveyors. Thimmappa instructed the officials to safeguard government lands.

Mini Vidhana Soudha at Periyapatna

When the issue of Periyapatna not having a Mini Vidhana Soudha was raised during the meeting, the Minister instructed the Periyapatna Tahasildhar to identify land so that adequate funds would be released for the construction of the building.
