Sorake: Kaup to be upgraded to Town Municipal Corporation

Udupi: The State’s Urban Development Minister on Saturday, April 5 distributed 427 BPL cards, 757 APL cards, 134 Anthyodaya cards, laptops and revolving funds to Self-Help Groups under various development schemes at Uliyargoli gram panchayath.

While speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Kaup constituency will be upgraded to a town Municipal Corporation. A Rs. 52 crore worth proposal is approved for Manipur gram panchayath to purify water and a Rs. 31 crore worth project to ensure the purification of sewage water and UGD programme in the area is being undertaken, he added. To develop roads, Rs. 20 crore will be used, he stated.

The minister added that Rs. 123 crore will be used for  construction of a University center at  Belapu. Tourism activities will be initiated at Kaup area. Rs. 2 crore has been released to develop the Kaup government hospital. He also said that 270 applications have received under section 94 C of Land Reform Act and are being processed.

He said that panchayath level meet should be organized to get in touch with the problems of the people.
