Mangaluru: Eminent Konkani singer Claud D’Souza, who made his first appearance in Wilfy Rebimbus’ shows from the 75th Wilfy Nite, passed away in Mangaluru after a brief illness on July 24, Monday. He was 67 and is survived by his wife and two children.
Claud was a consistent performer in the Konkani music world and traveled around the Gulf region for his own shows besides accompanying Konkani legend Wilfy Rebimbus for Wilfy Nite. He staged many shows in Mumbai, Mangalore, Goa, and even Canada.
He is famous for his contributions to the Konkani music world and his association with Wilfy Rebimbus. He also showcased his talent in playing musical instruments such as the drums and guitar. He was highly regarded as a compere and a skilled actor-director on the Konkani stage.
His sound and religious plays brought him laurels. Sixty-seven-year-old multi-talented Claud won several honors and awards, including ‘Sandesha Award’ and Karnataka Sahitya Academy.
