Shivamogga: Unfazed by his recent defeat in the Assembly polls, son of former CM S Bangarappa and JDS candidate for Shivamogga constituency Madhu Bangarappa is ready to take on BY Raghavendra, sitting MP and son of former CM BS Yeddyurappa.

Speaking to newskarnataka.com, Madhu, who recently had an oceanic crowd following him while he stepped out to file his nomination papers, said that the election in Shivamogga is falsely being publicized as a battle between sons of two former CMs.

“It is all about the one who can deliver and the one who cannot, ” said Madhu, who is clear that he has only the works of the coalition government in hands to go to the people asking for votes.

“For voters, it is always about development and not the personality and the charisma of one leader, ” he said.
“If it is about the sons of the former CMs, then it’s about the work done by the two former CMs as well. Let’s dissect and see for ourselves what S Bangarappa has done for Shivamogga and what BS Yeddyurappa has done. The latter’s contribution for Shivamogga is a big zero, ” he said adding that while his contender is talking about an airport for Shivamogga, he wants to focus on real issues-the issues that affect his people.

“This is the fifth year of drought in this part of the state, which has always enjoyed luxurious water resources. The state coalition government has already announced allocation for tackling drought. There are Forest land issue, irrigation issue and various other burning issues that need to be addressed. I am talking about these issues. People want a leader who can be their voice and over the last few weeks of campaigning, I have felt the positive vibe from people, ” he said adding that CM Kumaraswamy has already waived off the farm loans of many farmers and this move has earned the confidence of the farmers.

He concluded saying that 2014 was different as there was a weak opposition, but today opposition is way too stronger and hence ‘their’ lies will not bring them victory.
