Shivamogga: Six people were killed and one more was injured when a car that they were traveling in collided against a lorry near Ayanur on the Shivamogga-Sagar stretch of NH-206 on Monday.
According to police, the deceased are Ashok, Keshav, Kiran, Karthik, Naveen and Marimuthu, residents of Brahmeshwar village, Hosanagar taluk in the district. All the victims are aged between 25 and 30 years and were daily wage workers in a stone quarry, who were eagerly heading to Shivamogga to watch a film.
The incident took place when the speeding car collided with the lorry transporting liquor bottles.
It is said that Ashoka, who was driving the car, had overtaken two cars earlier before hitting the lorry coming from Shivamogga. Mahantesh, the driver of the lorry, is undergoing treatment at McGann hospital in Shivamogga. The Kumsi police have registered a case.
