Shivamogga: The incident in which Tipu’s photo was put up in the office of the opposition members of the City Corporation has triggered a controversy, and drawn the ire of Hindu organisations. Subsequently, Tipu’s photo was removed from the office to escape the heat of the protests.

Mehak Shareef, a Municipal Councillor of Ninbe from Congress, took over as Chairman of the Accounts Standing Committee. During her tenure, her husband M. D. Sharief was given a photo of Tipu by his friends. Mehak had installed the photo of Tipu in his office.

There was strong opposition and the Hindu Jagarana Vedike had called for a protest against the Corporation. Members, officials and the ruling party of the Municipal Corporation have withdrawn the photo of Tipu installed by them.
