Shivamogga: The election officers, assistant election officers and all the election-designated officers should perform their duties to ensure that the model Code of Conduct is not violated.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Selvamani R. instructed the officials to be more careful during the holidays. He held a meeting with the returning officers of Assembly constituencies through video conferencing at the District Administration Office on Sunday April 2 and gave suggestions on poll preparedness.
All the returning officers should go to the polling booths and ensure that the polling booths are set up. The election process should be planned properly now and the duties should be done. One person from the Panchayat or other local bodies should be assigned to each polling station. The EO, Chief Officer, PDOs should keep a close watch on all the basic arrangements of the polling booths and the officer/staff deployed for election duty, he said.
Basic amenities, water for election staff, food should be arranged in all polling booths by the designated officers properly. Some remote villages do not have drinking water and other amenities. More care should be taken and arrangements should be made there. And where there are cluster polling stations three and more booths, basic amenities including pandals should be ensured, he noted.
EO, Chief Officer, PDOs should check AMF (Assured Minimum Facilities) in all polling booths and take appropriate action. And the returning officers should be very sensitive about the postal ballot, he added.
