Shivamogga: In a tragic incident, a man was beaten to death in a village near Kargal in the Taluk after a quarrel broke out with a neighbour who refused to charge his mobile phone.

The deceased has been identified as Thimmappa (52), a resident of Muralli, who was beaten up by his friend over a small issue. Siddu had gone to his friend Thimmappa’s house in the same Village on night of Monday November 7 to charge his mobile phone after there was an electricity problem in his house in Muralli Village under Kargal Police Station limits. However, Thimmappa refused to charge his mobile phone. At one point, the accused Siddu, hit on the head of Thimmappa with a stick.

Thimmappa was rushed to the Byakodu Primary Health Centre for treatment the next day due to lack of transport system, from where he was shifted to Sagara and later to McGann Teaching Hospital in Shivamogga. As the situation worsened, he was admitted to the District Hospital in Udupi for further treatment. However, Thimmappa died on night of Wednesday November 9.

Kargal Police has registered a case of unnatural death and arrested the accused.
