Shivamogga: An elephant from the Sakrebailu Elephant Camp tried to attack its caretaker on Friday September 9. The incident, however, was made public on Sunday after a video of it went viral on social media.

The camp is situated about 10 km outside of the City near Gajanur.

The male elephant Manikantha attempted to attack its caretaker Khaleel, and the incident was recorded on a CCTV camera. The incident happened as the mahout was regularly taking the elephant to the forest to graze. The caretaker, who arrived on a bike, ran and was unharmed. A woman passenger in a car also was also able to escape unharmed.

According to sources, the elephant was tied with the help of other elephants.
